Isobutyl Acetate : N°CAS = 110-19-0 / N° INDEX = 607-026-00-7
3.Identification of dangers
Main dangers : Highly flammable. In use, may form explosive/flammable vapour-air mixture.
4.First aid
In case of eye contact rinse carefully and thoroughly with water and seek medical advice.
In case of skin contact wipe off mechanically and wash afflicted areas thoroughly with soap and plenty of water.
In case of irritation of the respiratory tract or swallowing, consult a doctor.
In case of ingestion, allow the victim to rinse his mouth and then to drink a lot of water and seek medical advice.
5.Fire safety precaution
Methods of extinguishment : CO2, foam, dry powder
In cases of larger fires, water spray should be used.
Protection of persons intervening : In case of fire, formation of carbon monoxide. Fire-man have to wear self-contained breathing apparatus.
6. Measures to take in case of accidental dispersion :
Individual precautions : avoid contact with skin and eyes
Precautions for protection of environment : Do not empty into drains.
Remove sources of fires, ensure adequate ventilation/exhaust ventilation. Keep unauthorized persons away.
Remove mechanically : cover remainders with wat absorbent material (e.g. sawdust, chemical binder based on calcium silicate hydrate, sand). After approx one hour transfert to waste container and do not seal (evolution of CO2). Keep damp in a safe ventilated area for several days. Further disposal by incineration.
7. Handling and Storage
Handling :
Technical measures : Explosion and fire protection required.
Precautions : Avoid contact with skin and eyes.
Instructions for use : Provide adequate ventilation and if necessary, air extraction in working areas. Explosion protection required.
Storage Conditions:
Keep container dry and tightly closed in a cool and well ventilated place. Avoid exposure to temperatures above 60°C. Ensure adequate ventilation or exhaust ventilation in the working area. Exhaust ventilation necessary if product is sprayed.
8. Checking of exposure / individual protection :
Equipment for individual protection :
- Respiratory protection : Protection required in insufficiently ventilated working areas and during spraying.
- Protection of hands : Protection gloves ( made of PVC or rubber ).
- Protection of eyes : Protective goggles / mask.
- Protection of skin/body : wear suitable protective clothing. Keep away from foodstuffs, drinks and tobacco. Wash hands before breaks and at end of works. Keep working clothes separate. Take off immediately all contaminated clothing.

S16 Keep away from sources of ignition - No smoking.
S23 Do not breathe vapour/spray.
S29 Do not empty into drains.
S33 Take precautionary measures against static discharges.
Airborne emissions must be controlled within local and national limits, in accordance with the appropriate legislation.
Ethyl acetate : 400 ml/m3 (ppm) corresp to 1400 mg/m3 (eight hours average value). Peak concentration limit according to Category I; i.e. German MAK - value may be exceeded for short periods (not more than 5 minutes) by a factor of no more than 2 (i.e. may rise to no more than 800ml/m3) up to eight times per shift. Ethyl acetate is classified as pragnancy group C in the German MAK-value is observed, (compare also TLVs and Biological Exposure Indices).
Any existing national regulations for handling of isocyanates and solvents must be observed.
